Hard to say since only 6 players have reached 20+ PL goals in their debut season from a foreign league and when you look at the name, you’ll know why. I think people are jumping the gun here, my main thing is whether we get over the line and at this stage things are looking promising given the way we strengthened our squad plus teams paying less attention to Ode/Martinelli compared to Eze/Gyokeres.

Agreed, should of just bought Mateta, Watkins or Wood then and saved a ton of money.

I’ll be honest, stylistically those two are probably the type of CFs I would have preferred but I still have reservations about how Arteta would have utilised Ekitike - after the whole Auba situation then I have no clue how it would have gone down. That said, I think we can definitely get over the line with Gyokeres tbh.

If we were spending that sort of money then Alvarez would have been our best bet but you probably know more than me whether Atleti would have let him go.

Sorry, I wanted to keep quiet but I don’t see what Gyokeres is doing that is any different from a PL number 9, let alone prime Costa? Unless that was a joke?

Like I’m glad it looks like he’s improving but there’s nothing I’ve seen recently that suggest he’s a cut above the rest, he’s doing the bare minimum of a decent PL striker, running the channels well, battling the defenders, okay hold up.

Genuine Wood, Mateta, Watkins, Solanke, Delap type stuff recently?

Keep me honest please AM as I know I’m a little bias.

I said he plays like prime Costa compared to what standard Havertz served up in his first couple of months, not that he plays like prime Costa. That would be outrageous.

Nobody says he's a world beater, he never wes. But the way some talk about him like we geniuinely don't play some interesting stuff with him in the team is baffling? Not to mention he's forced to play every minute of every game instead of getting eased in a bit.

And he plays better with each passing game, which is promising. We're now entering some interesting fixture period so let's see how it goes.

Looks like a very good Jesus replacement in fairness. Great for 10-15 goals in all comps but offers a lot more link up for our wingers.

Yeah it’s why I thought we’d be all over him. But I think Berta called shotgun tbf and he’s done good work all round. Like @2Smokeyy says we’ve got more than enough to win the big ones and that’s what’s important.

The next real star quality player that’ll move is Yilmaz. It’ll be interesting to see what happens there. I think there’s a good chance we get rid of Martinelli and try for him.

I like his profile, still raw, but there is real potential there. I can't believe Liverpool got him and Isak smh. If Arsenal legitimately improved their CF and LW options (Eze is more of an attacking mid), the team would be the best in the world and can legit dominate for years if the best players stay healthy. Gyokeres is a decent player and will score goals, but he kinda reminds me a bit of Podolski. Like a Podolski with work rate.

i think criticism to gyokeres is valid and he deserved to get that based on his performance so far (even he still not much get enough service in per game)

but we have to remember he is best available in market because sesko cost 90m euro (bidding war between manutd and newcastle) & ekitike cost 95m euro while gyokeres only cost 73m euro

that is why gyokeres best available in market considering we dont have unlimited psr and ffp room & also need buy many player for different position

Option A - Blow the whole budget on a CF and have the same issues as last season as in sweating whenever a player picks up a knock or plays in a pointless international friendly. Saka, Ødegaard and co being pushed to the maximum.

Option B - Go for a more balanced squad whereby players can be rotated and kept fresh as there isn’t much of a drop in quality. Different players coming in and out of form at various stages of the season with there being less of a creative burden on one player. To put it into context, one injury to VVD/Konate and it’s crisis mode for Liverpool.

Remains to be seen which one works out. I think Option B will work in our favour over a 38 game season whereas Option A could be more suited to the latter stages of the CL if we come up against a PSG, Barcelona or Bayern.

Indeed, I completely agree. I think with AFCON coming up and the xmas schedule they’ll be heavily reliant on Ekitike, Isak, Gakpo and Chiesa to carry them through those games. They also better be hoping they make it through to January with Konate and VVD staying fit.

Seems a big ask.
