I laugh because most assumed he'd be useless outside of goals now he's showcasing his excellent ability to link up, holdup play and be an outlet and physical presence and it's still not good enough for some because he's not scoring.

Last couple of games he's shown he's a lot more well rounded and useful in general play than many had realised. The goals will come, I've no doubt about it. But even so, if he's contributing what's the big deal? If we go through a baron spell and he's missing all round then it becomes a major issue but until then people need to relax.

How is that cherry picking.

Havertz since playing striker has 22G/10A in 61 games (as striker). That is a ratio of 1 goal involvement in 2 games.

Very little sample size of Gyökeres, but he is at 3G/0A in 8 games.
Well, that’s the epitome of cherry picking you clown. You’ve applied absolutely no context.

Let me break it down for you. Kai single-handedly knocked us out of the cups due to his finishing. Those missed chances he didn’t create for himself. I’m not even blaming Kai, it was square pegs in round holes. I can guarantee Gjok would have had a better output in similar positions. Right now, Gjok is suffering due to Mik, but I’m feeling we’ll see that change.

I like his profile, still raw, but there is real potential there. I can't believe Liverpool got him and Isak smh. If Arsenal legitimately improved their CF and LW options (Eze is more of an attacking mid), the team would be the best in the world and can legit dominate for years if the best players stay healthy. Gyokeres is a decent player and will score goals, but he kinda reminds me a bit of Podolski. Like a Podolski with work rate.
It’s early, and I’ve jumped the gun far too quickly before. But I think I like Ekitike better than isak. I think he’s a better target man and more creative. He’s so silky. I have a feeling he might be more useful to the way we like to play and in bigger games.

I’m most jealous of him for Liverpool right now.

With gyok we have more contrast with havertz tho. In some ways I think Ekitike might have been more like a better version of havertz for us.

I have to be honest, Ekitike would've been my top pick in the summer.

Not that I'd seen him too much; I think @jones is the real knowledge base behind the player, but from what I saw of him, he's silky and skillful and reminded me of a more raw Isak (with some flair chucked in).

That said Gyokeres was my 2nd pick. And, he's done better than I expected in terms of link up play, a pleasant surprise. The goals will come once he gets more comfortable, I truly believe it.

On a side note, I think the forced comparisons with Havertz aren't productive.

Is it true that Havertz got unfairly sh!t on? Yes, perhaps at times, but they're both here now, and we're all hoping that Gyokeres is able to snag 20+ goals this season in the league. Him doing that doesn't diminish what Havertz has done playing for us as CF.

need more attack through middle also put Ødegaard behind gyokeres on middle space also dont let Ødegaard drop deeper too much (let him stay higher up the pitch atleast in middle third) then Ødegaard can easily spam through ball to gyokeres in every game,

so with that concept which mean we play for gyokeres strength, just like this video very very direct no need sidepass and backpass merchant to created 1 simple chance and that concept same like kdb did to haaland in 22/23 and 23/24

if arteta does that every game then our xg will reach atleast 3.00 every game

Havertz last season, same amount of games: 4 goals and 1 assist

2-0 Wolves (first goal, second assist)
1-1 Brighton (first goal)
4-2 Leicester (last goal)
2-0PSG (first goal)

As difficult games, we played Villa A, Sp**s A, City A, Atalanta A, PSG H
This year Utd A, Liverpool A, City H, Newcastle A, Bilbao A

Same difficulty, much better squad this year.

He should have burried at least one yesterday. Especially the 2nd through ball from Ødegaard, you either finish it or pass it to Martinelli...

He had a shorter pre season than everyone else and has had to play without our two best creative players a lot of the time (Saka and Ødegaard). Pretty sure Arteta wasn't playing Havertz with a midfield 3 of Merino/Rice/Partey. You're comparing apples with oranges.

People just want him to fail so bad, some of our fans too.

I guess their Seskosexual thing never went away and they could be bitter that we got the better striker.

I'm less worried now than when we signed him because he has good qualities and offers something different tactically.

But he is 100% getting bullied in the Premier League. Can he hold the ball up? Sure he can but his hold up is not good because he loses the duel 8 times out of 10 in the prem. He is a flat track bully... he is not a specimen like Haaland or even Kai. Can't get excited about seeing him bully Olympiakos defenders.

And thats fine because he offers enough in other ways and he will surely improve.

Okay I got it, Gyokeres needs to have the perfect environment. Our strongest team needs to be on the pitch and we cannot play difficult opponents because it is not fair.

I will repeat myself, he had 3 very good chances against Olympiakos. The first one being the hardest and he almost scored, fair enough. The other 2 much easier to score and his trademark goals, yet he fluked it.

My opinion is that he is not capable of winning games on its own for us and therefore, for us to win the EPL and/or CL with him leading the line, we need our other attackers to step up. Saka, Eze, Ode, ... one of them will need a world class season like Salah did.

And actually, you are saying the same. The difference is, you are okay with that, while I'm not. I wanted to have a clear improvement on Havertz and I don't see one. And that is a big shame because I believe that we are one world class striker away to win several big trophies.

I'm on my knees for Gyok to do well but I don't know why a lot of fans lower their standards when it comes to his performances.

All I want is a clear upgrade on Havertz. I feel we still lack some cutting edge in attack and I don’t know if Gyok will solve that. Is he going to drag us over the line in a tight game?

How does he compare with Solanke ? Age isn't too far apart. The transfer fee is nearly the same. Both had stints in Championship about the same years and Solanke had better numbers there. How would Solanke do in Portugal ? Also some fans here didn't mind him joining a few years ago.
