Where some of you guys lose me on this is it really is down to the manager, a different one with a different style and the striker hierarchy could switch instantly.

If the last thing we saw of Havertz was the failed midfield experiment what would his standing in football be then?

There have been many chances and outright stinkers from Havertz since then where he doesn’t get “punished” like Gyokeres, Eze many others who aren’t at the club anymore. I think this bit is missing from the player assessments on here.

Arteta’s verdict isn’t absolute or the ultimate valuation of a player, sometimes he just cannot use them.

I can only speak for myself. Was a fan of Havertz' game when he was at Leverkusen. Thought he was underwhelming at Chelsea, with flashes of what made me appreciate him back then. When you got linked, it made sense to me. I didn't see the transition to CF happening (partly because he was so underwhelming there for Chelsea) but to both him and Arteta's credit, he looks much better there than he did at Chelsea.

My opinion on Gyokeres also hasn't changed. I called him a flat track bully when he was in Portugal (when explaining his ridiculous numbers), said he wouldn't be able to replicate that style of play in the PL but that he might have the mentality to adjust and prove useful still. He did, and he didn't play an insignificant role in getting your first PL title in two decades.

When the debate was Gyokeres vs. Sesko, I leaned Sesko. I still do. I haven't seen anything from either that has made me stray from that opinion. Doesn't mean Gyokeres was a bad signing, it's not binary like that. You needed one of them.

I don’t think it would tbh. Feel like I’ve seen enough of Gyokeres to say that he simply doesn’t have any standout attributes that translate well to the PL at all.

Heck, even yesterday he was in a position that was his bread and butter in Portugal and one heavy touch completely ruined it. Then when you realise he isn’t very strong or quick his value under any manager in the PL diminishes.

His ball striking and finishing is second to none though, but again even that he struggles with because he can’t shoot quick enough.

Gyo limitations is his general all round game its becoming worse we cant play into his strength because that not our style imo should use him more in CL won't mind he start against Napoli we cant already put pressure on kai and over play him

He's an elite finisher with an elite shot and makes good runs inbehind. The problem is we don't play through balls and we tried to bulk him up, which makes him slower so his acceleration is worse.

It would of been better for him if he went to a smaller club to play a Jamie Vardy role.

You know he isn't starting until Havertz gets injured

Its really risky we cant use Kai so much he had year and half of limited football he just back play consistently from like march and played world cup then he'll have to go to the international break where he'll play alot too he'll eventually get injured gyo need to be used

We'll have to see if Arteta learns his lesson about rotation.

Would be cool if we keep using Fergie tactics of players calling in sick for internationals.

I think in CL there opportunities for him the games there suit him more at least arteta need to use him in games that don't involve Bayern Munich or Real Madrid

When he gets the ball in behind, which he has done many times at Arsenal he isn’t quick enough and has a bad touch that 9x out of 10 the defender gets back.

He’s nothing like Vardy.

I’m not gonna sit here and say Gyo has what it takes to start for a top 2 club but neither does Havertz and look how he’s praised.

I am very careful when judging attackers under Arteta because we get a very skewed view in our bubble. A lot of forwards Arteta has rubbished over the years are still scoring in Europe as recently as this weekend.

If Arsenal was my only impression of Eze I’d think he was washed, but I know for a fact he’s one of the best attacking mids in the prem in the correct conditions.

I think judging forwards especially under Arteta’s tenure is kinda unfair, been saying it for years.

People love to laser focus on one bad touch and then ignore the good stuff. Combined very well with Tzolis one passage which was encouraging. Also haven't played a lot lately.

Ish - if he was as quick as Vardy, he'd have more of an impact. Vardy was really very vey good for 3-4 years

Once a player becomes the forum punching bag just forget about it.

Rogers took an identical heavy touch earlier in the game, Tzolis messed up two counter attacks that Gyokeres/Nelli have been killed for in the past. Just gotta pick your battles wisely or you’ll be fighting all day on here.

Arsenal attackers have also scored in Europe under Arteta. It's not just a system thing, the level is just not the same.

Martinelli's goal per 90 in the CL from 23/24 and up until his departure was almost double in the CL of what it was in the PL, 0.43 and 0.25 respectively.

In comparison, Gyokeres rate (excluding penalties) dropped from 0.80 to 0.59 in the same period (pre-Arsenal) when he had to play in the CL instead of the Portuguese league.

In general, Gyokeres numbers in terms of goals per 90 fall pretty much right where you'd expect them to be when adjusting for the difference in level. And they aren't terrible, they're just.. okay?

One day, it might be this year or even the next. But one day, when Ornstein or James McNicholas are free to divulge more about Arsenal..

It will come to light that one of our major attacking targets opted not to join the club because they had grave concerns about the attacking play under Arteta.

When that day comes you guys will never hear the end of it from me. Will record a vid actually, incase I am dead.
