Where/When did this happen? Can you provide a source for that?
Uh that Napoli performance was definitely a strop when taking into account his standards. I don’t want to go too far and say his mentality is weakening or whatever, but that performance had nothing to do with his lack of quality in certain areas (which we’re all aware of) and everything to do with a massive downturn in effort and hunger. Thats something I never said about Gyokeres last year.

But I’m not gonna go over the cliff and say he’s downed tools or whatever. Maybe he has something personal going on or was sick or just had an off day.
But the last couple of performances have worried me not from his lack of quality or efficiency but serious lack of urgency and desire.

Not gonna lie I did find it worrying

Just need to make sure we are playing Estonia, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, Romania, Poland and Bosnia and Herzegovina every week and we will be sorted.
He has way better goal record internationally than Havertz. Way better goal per minute ratio in the CL than Havertz. His first season in pl he scored more than any season Havertz has in the league

But he’s not the manager’s favourite so it doesn’t matter

Last time I checked it was Arsenal that are PL Champions not Sweden.

Gyokeres can go **** him self if he doesnt want to play winning ball.

Arteta had his best season and won the PL when Gyok was added to the squad. CL final too.

This was earlier this year against a solid team in Belgium. The chop was stiff as hell  but two things stand out to me

1. He wouldn’t even have the confidence to try and beat a defender at Arsenal. That fake shot, cut inside is well within his ability to do and it doesn’t require being faster or stronger than defenders. Just confidence and composure
2. As many have said, we probably shouldn’t have bought him but our team makes him look worse than he is

It’s a coaching and man-management job. It’s the latter where I feel like Arteta hasn’t learned how to keep some of his role players happy/motivated but he will have to now with Havertz out. Surround Gyok with ball players (Ode, Tzolis, Saka, Eze, Dowman, Bruno G) and we should be able to make it somewhat work.

Gyok also needs to work on his movement in the box and I don’t expect the coaching staff to work miracles but it’s their job to get him doing better than what we’ve seen so far.

We are really doing something wrong right? he is scoring goals for fun with Sweden.

International football is just a much lower level. PL teams are well drilled units with huge analysis/tactics teams behind them that work super hard to control the margins and cancel out strengths of forwards. Huge difference to international football where a bunch of players just get together and train once every few months.

And the defenders from the PL are just faster and stronger, his physical traits are not elite enough to beat defenders consistently. His movement in the box is also a huge issue.

He just thrives in international football but that doesn't mean I expect much against Leeds on saturday. Hopefully he can because we need him

Viktor is a goalscorer, but I think he’s unhappy at Arsenal. Watching him play last year, which was still objectively a successful season, it was clear to me that many of his teammates dont trust him, dont like him, maybe even resents him. I’ve played football with people like that and it’s hard to run into space only to see your teammate cut back inside, recycling the ball, instead of passing it to you, when you know he saw you make that run and decided not to pass only because it was you.

Bullying is the behaviour I’m thinking of, is Viktor being bullied? What do you think?

One of the problems is at Arsenal he has bulked up and is used as a target man with his back to the goal a lot

We also play slow football and suck at transition play any point during games. I’m sure the issue comes from training where everything is designed for control and minimum risk

Gyokeres and Sesko both went to wrong clubs and should been opposite. Sesko would been the presence stationary striker Arteta loves and Gyokeres would suit United counter attack game much better

Arsenal Quotes

The coach's role is to make the player understand everything that serves the interest of the game. To do this he must speak to the child within each player, to the adolescent he was and the adult he is now. Too often a coach tends only to speak to the adult, issuing commands for performance, for victory, for reflection, to the detriment of the child who is playing for pleasure, living in the present.
