Arsenal have been regularly scouting Holland striker Vincent Janssen, who has emerged this season with AZ Alkmaar as the most prolific forward in the Dutch Eredivisie.

In what is his first year in the top division of Dutch football, Janssen has scored 26 league goals to win a call-up this year to Danny Blind’s Holland national team.

Aged 21, he joined Alkmaar last summer from Almere City in the Eerste Divisie after previously being released by Feyenoord in 2013 despite developing through their academy. Janssen is the son of former freestyle swimming world champion Annemarie Verstappen and his technical qualities, as well as his finishing, have impressed Arsenal this season.

A young Dutch striker who wasn't wanted by Feyenoord? This sounds familiar. :drool:

No idea if he's any good or not but just read that he has scored 20 league goals since the beginning of the year. That's a ridiculous amount even by Dutch league standards.

Ideal world, you sell all the **** you have upfront and replace it with this man.

Then look to buy someone a bit more high profile like Sturridge and let them both compete. That way if Sturridge's injury woes continue it's not just back to Giroud.

Just freshen the position up.

I'd sell Jiroo and sign this guy along with getting in another proven forward. No matter how we tend to downplay Giroud's quality he'll have good clubs willing to pay decent money and it'd be better for all concerned that he leaves.

@razörist What do you think?
No, no, no, no, no. If anything, the rise of this guy shows why you should never buy defenders from the Eredivisie. I only remember a couple impressive goals where he used his strenght and movement to score. He is just having the time of his life, everthing falls just right for him. No way in hell he's Arsenal quality, he's a classic poacher. In games against small teams he will not get the space he gets in the eredivisie, making him useless. In the big games he does not have the pace or technique to be able to hold on to the ball or make something happen on his own. Not good enough.
