Wayne Rooney and His Hold Over English Football

I like Rooney but how does he keep getting jobs?

For some reason the English footballing system is obsessed with recycling people who used to be good at playing football, even though that has basically nothing to do with being a good manager.

The only reason Rooney has a job as a manager is because he was the best English footballer circa 2008. He has literally zero other qualifications. Same goes with Lampard and Gerrard.

Michael Owen appears to be borderline autistic so that's prevented him from getting the same treatment.

I don’t like seeing managers on things like the Overlap. From all accounts the best managers are semi obsessives who even during the offseason are always preparing and planning.

Listen to what guys from Wenger to Mourinho or Zidane to Ancelotti say and they’re all hyper motivated individuals who never really switch the football brain off.

Rooney was in the last chance saloon this summer with Plymouth and he’s pissing about instead with Neville and Carragher.

I quite like Rooney as a personality even though he's obviously pretty thick.

Phenomenal footballer in his prime but yeah, he's got no business managing pro clubs. Beyond the name value he offers nothing.

Punditry would probably suit him better.

Arsenal Quotes

You kind of never leave Arsenal. How many comebacks do you make? At one point it will turn out to be a bad move. We all love the first Rocky but I'm not too sure about the last one.
