But there is a pattern here.

Let's go for the players that have their clubs saying "he's not for sale"

This is one messed up window. My only hope is relying on Gooneys tweets now.......... Too bloody sad.

No quotes = pure speculation from the Mirror.

This one is dead.

Didn't think he celebrated the goal. If his aim is the be the main man again then we really are his best option. Question is whether we would pay the wages.

we can afford the wages by a long shot. and im sure it wouldnt piss off the team as much, especially the BRITISH CORE because rooney is BRITISH TOO!

we've cut more than £400k from the wage bill.

just offer united £40m up front and £10m in add-ons.

United would take 40m for Rooney if they continue to keep him a bench option. We won't be in for him though, we've already said we're not in for star signings after losing out on Suarez.

It should be the natural option after losing out on Suarez and Higuain but isn't.

He looked good today too.

I'd sign Rooney just because it'd mean we'd have England's 4 best players which'd mean more ****ing protection from referees - not named Anthony Taylor.

I would bid 35-40 million if we really have it. Wenger and the board won't. Rooney might come here but not sure united would sell to us.

Agreed, but it won't happen. Him and Cesar. Gustavo,
etc. etc.

It's over.

If Chelsea offer £40 mill for Rooney and pay him 300k a week there is no way we would match that.

We can't match Chelsea, only chance is that united refuse to sell to Chelsea but they'd be foolish to turn down 40m and 12m a year off their wage bill for an unhappy player.

To be fair, if we cannot match the salaries of the top clubs then we have no business in the top flight.

Don't we have one of the highest wage bills anyway, so how does that add up? And isn't Wenger the highest paid manager? Something ain't right.

its been broken down to death. wenger feels everyone should make close to the same amount to create "harmony" or whatever bullshit excuse he uses.

where unproven, squad player X would make 30k per week, we pay them 50-60k per week. whereas established world class star makes 140k per week at a rival, we're only willing to go 100k

when you have 8-9 players who aren't making an impact on 50-60k per week, it leads to a massively inflated wage bill. and the problem now is, you smash the structure 3 times this summer, then guys like walcott and cazorla will want more money too

Walcott stuck it out with us, because he wasn't good enough to attract the attentions of an elite club. Sure, he can be very good, but he has no business being a sure fire starter in an Arsenal team.

And yet he's one of our best players
