Why Arsenal are in rise and not decline (article)

Cole, Clichy, Lauren.

All three are defenders. All three aid our attack, and give us stability down that side, therefore meaning other players can push forward knowing they have competent defenders behind them.
With Cygan in defense, he can't attack, players are weary of moving up the pitch to aid the attack incase they get caught on the break, leaving the defense weakened.

With our first team defenders out, confidence isn't as high, we don't attack as much as we'd like, we don't go forward too much incase we get caught and punished. This weakened defense, then leads to us playing a 4-5-1 formation which we're not the best at, and Henry hasn't performed in (except Real, still not ideal though). Therefore leaving our attacking options even weaker. All this is due to injuries in defense, and injuries in general. The said injuries have stopped us from playing the same team twice in a row, meaning partnerships aren't easy to form, and consistency isn't easy to find - again explaining confidence, and the willingness to get forward and attack as often as usual.

kel, these are the facts: Injuries, poor refereeing (Chelsea, Liverpool for example) have cost us big time. That's a fact, and you can try to deny it, but all it proves is that you're talking ****.

You can comment about the first few games, sure. But a season isn't made up of the first few games, and you can comment on Lauren as his injury is recent, but without any one of those three (Clichy less so), our side is weakened.

first of all, that argument is pure speculation and, thus, completely irrelevant. second, it is just laughable. do you honestly think that our complete lack of offensive coordination, team work, accurate passing and poor movement off the ball is caused by cole's and clichy's absence?!

second, lauren was injured only recently and we struggled long before even cole and clichy were injured. that is the cold fact here. that is which proves you, and everyone else who blames injuries, wrong. you say it was just a few games, wrong. it was not only away games. our performances was then, and still are, mediocre at best.

go ahead, blame injuries and the refs if it makes you feel better. it is wrong, but who am i to say you shouldn't be allowed to completely delude yourself. it's pretty pathetic, but i guess to each his own...
