It's a bit annoying when bid information is leaked by a club. And I would suggest that Sporting are responsible for this leak, or the agent.

Can play centreback as well so potentially fills a few holes in the squad.

Trying to flush out bigger bids

By the same token it could also be a case of AW calling Khedira's bluff re his wages.
Me thinks the Carvalho interest is genuine and this is another example of transfer target escalation based upon AW's valuations, as seen last summer re our pursuit of a CF & CMD.
I also think Cavalho's situation is similar to Balotelli, in that they both had WC to forget and failed to justify their transfer fees as the stood/stand.

If this is true I see no reason why we wouldn't go back with a bid where Sporting and the third party get everything upfront and as the article says they would probably accept it considering they are skint and other clubs are unlikely to come in with a bid like ours.

Been hoping we'd be after him. All the talk of Bender and Schneiderlin but this guy is the one I was hoping for. Gooner as well. Best player in Portugal last season and potential to become one of the best DM's in the world.

but Holding’s hair transplant was painless
Another young midfielder, highly unlikely in my opinion. Huge fee and biggish wages.

We haven't got any young DM's, unless you count Coquelin. He'd displace Arteta or Flamini eaisly, who are both 30+. He'd also be on around 60-70K p/w if he came here, which is standard really.

Really hope our interest is genuine, he's such a talent.

I was seriously underwhelmed by him in the WC considering the hype. Anybody seen much of him at Sporting?

What's the significance of Mendes???

We had a deal agreed to sign Ronaldo, and he went to Manchester...

He touts his players for massive fees, and to be fair he is good at it. The best agent in the business, cold and calculated. He will make sure sporting get the buyout clause and then he will ask for outrageous wages no doubt.

He barely played for some reason, he'd have done a better job than Veloso. I watched him a few times for Sporting, he's quality. Has a ridiculous engine, extremely strong and athletic, neat and tidy with the ball at his feet although his range of passing could improve. He's a good striker of the ball too.

Yeah also Mourinho is one of his clients.

Chelsea also own percentages of Sporting players and there's some sort of dodgy link there.

Sounds like a similar player to Khedira, and I hear he can do a job at CB if needed. It still seems too much of a risk for us with him unproven at the very top level unlike our other big buys.

Arsenal have got a €30m bid(in 2 payments) for W.Carvalho rejected by Sporting. SCP open for talks, but want all the money at once. [O Jogo]
