For some it's like water. Who could go on without enjoying AM complaining about silly things.

Again, I will say I was wrong when Saliba gets sold because he hates Arteta for his decisions.

And even then his professionalism has to be questioned. It could be even his psychologist who has said, that take it very easy on him.

Seems like we do a buy... Sadly Arteta is do blind watching Willian that he can recognise talent anymore. We will lose Balogun and waste Saliba.

Mari isn't bad, Rob is not bad, but Saliba could do that without problem.

Saliba was bought because he could play a high line due to his speed and his boss defensive qualities. Holding can't play the high line. When defenders can play a highline, that means we have the chance to score more goals with the opposition pinned back.

This is why you buy a defender like Saliba - much in the mold of Varane and VVD.

"he just arrived but he has already shown he's the boss of this defense", yet our signings need time to 'adapt' and 'learn tactics'.

Sideway passing from the back is a very difficult tactic to learn...

Should've gotten way more gametime here ahead of Luiz and Holding. Of course he is young and would make some mistakes, but that's part of developing a player. Why buy a highly rated talent if you are afraid to develop one. The initial loan after purchase made sense, but this whole saga has me baffled.

Hope he does well for the second half of the season and can force his way into the lineup next season. Otherwise we must sell and reinvest in a ready made CB.

...just a kindly reminder to everyone...it's ok doing it in a farmers league, but that's a world apart from being able to do it in the best league in the world!

Tbf Gabriel came from literally the same team as Pepe, so it's a very odd point to make

Sometimes you have to wonder if some think before they post. Gabriel left there and walked into our first game vs Fulham and won POTM at Arsenal for all these months. Add Fofana who came from same St Ettienne team partnering Saliba and walked into the Leicester defence and playing like a star.

With regards to the “anyone looks good in a farmers league” argument, you have to judge it on a case by case basis. Deep intrinsic scouting. We should’ve picked up what the Bayern scouts saw regarding Pepe, being that he needed too much space etc, but we didn’t. He wasn’t a football signing but a business signing. It’s not the same case for everyone else. Perhaps also tells us that we need better scouts.

Only just noticed his contract expires in 2024. That's promising at least, if he doesn't consider bridges burned he will hopefully slot in next season.
