Madrid desperately need a CB this summer and specially now that their are serious question marks about Alaba. They will look elsewhere if we stand firm...so we can definitely avoid Saliba leaving if we want to.

We at least have a experienced DoF now, my biggest worry with Saliba was that under Edu we’d end up losing him for way too low a fee or for free. I don't underrate or undervalue Saliba, he’s very likely to be a future best in the world in his position but if done smartly, there’s a scenario where we lose Saliba and end up a better team overall. Successful teams do keep their players but they also recognise when to cut their losses and reinvest at the right time if needed. Of course, I’d rather keep him but if it’s sell now and reinvest or get more time out of him and he walks for free, I’m taking the former

They were never going to sign Saliba this summer, that was impossible and not what we are concerned about. We are concered about Saliba leaving on a free in 2027, which as it stands is quite likely, even if they get Huijsen this summer.

My prediction is he'll sign new contract but likely there will be some release clause in it that could became active in 2027. Even if the club promise him they'll deliver trophies you never trust this club or Kroenke.
