So like any other normal team. We give him a bumper every year for a few years before we sell him. MA will use this as an excuse to buy 3 CBs.

Have people already acknowledged this project is a failure then? Why is everyone on here so keen to sell him

Next you’ll have people on here trying to justify whatever paltry sum Madrid offer is right for us.

Not keen just inevitability. As loved as these players are the majority of them we won’t have to worry about losing to Madrid lol.

In these scenarios we always miss out on a record sale believing these players thinking they will extend. If sell him with 2 years left and his stock still high I could see Saliba going for real money.

If we do the Arsenal thing and sell him with a year to go lol then yeah paltry sum. Also Madrid are experts at unsettling players and influencing them to run down their contracts. Due to Saliba already being on decent money, him extending kinda looks unlikely.

I don't think anyone is keen to sell him but it's probably inevitable, unless he signs a new contract of course.

The problem i see is will Madrid actually offer that massive fee that we would all expect / demand? If they don't, and they already get in his ear, they might say don't sign a contract and we'll try again in 12 months when you have 12 months left.

The other option is that they try and include someone as part of the deal, someone not overly appreciated, maybe a Tchouameni or someone of that ilk.

Exactly, big decision time this summer for us.

I believe Saliba has 2 years left after this season? (I haven't checked feel free to correct). If Saliba isn't at the negotiating table then the plan should be to engineer an impressive fee that will set a precedent for our selling reputation.

Shambolic bump
It is as simple as this really, if we go another season "nearly" winning the league or don't win the CL, he will absolutely be gone this summer. But I would still play hardball and refuse to sell unless it's a world record fee for a defender, shouldn't be anything below £100m that's baseline for even discussions to begin.

Really, 2 years left on the contract or not, he should be going for £120m+.

Think if we win a major trophy he'll still be open to leaving, but won't push for it. We can easily delay that then by demanding an astronomical fee.

Nobody is paying that for a player with 2 years left, he’s 18 months away from agreeing a free deal to join any European club at that point.

Real Madrid want to buy Saliba for 83 million £ and make him worlds most expensive defender.
In contrast, United paid 80 million for Harry Maguire .
. Make a bid that will make Saliba worlds most expensive footballer instead and then we can talk. Cheap f**kers

When I arrived, an Arsenal share was worth £800; it subsequently rose continuously in value and by the time I left it stood at £17,000.
