William Saliba: Rolls Royce

Who is the next closest to world class on team for you? For me Ode, Gabby, and Raya are world class
I like reading Gdeep thoughts but he does seem has a bit of a downer on the team & modern football in general .

I kinda agree with you Farz but I guess it really depends on Def of WC?

If it's the top 1 or 2 players in his position maybe only Saliba makes it?

If it's the top 6 or 8 players totally different story.

You could easily also add Saka to that list & Rice is possibly the best recovery midfielder at sniffing out danger?

Yeah it is a subjective test what is world class. Saka needs to grow and add to his game for me a bit too predictable with the ball for me.

I feel like he did improve his dribbling, defenders are struggling against him so far
I don’t know if it is or Mik. Everytime he has the ball you feel like you know exactly where Bukayo is going. I would like him to drive more to end line and cut it back

Took on the whole office today. Said it with my CHEST: “William Saliba is THE best CB on the planet”. Don’t ****ing chat to me about VVD or Rudiger. These guys don’t know ball man.

Willy Saliba may as well be wearing a purple silk robe, with a cigar in one hand and a neat whiskey in the other.

Simpletons don’t wanna just cut the faff and get to it. They wanna apply trophies won and experience. I don’t care, Saliba woulda won everything Rudiger has at Madrid lol. Crap situational points.

He’s the 👑

Wonder if one of the reasons we kept the powder somewhat dry this summer was to be able to guys like Saliba/Saka ect, who are up for renewal in a year or so, proper elite level contracts to fend off interest.
It does feel like the next step for us, a very young squad full of quality you that want to keep and only 1 position that could do with some improvement.

Sooner or later we will lose one of the big names, but if we do it right (not letting contracts into the final year) it would be for an insane amount of money. In the case of Saliba, we are probably looking at 100M+, it gives us a lot of options to replace and adapt

This is definitely one of the reasons.
There was a report few weeks ago that Arsenal has opened discussions with Magalhaes about new contract.
And they will have to open same discussions with Saka and Saliba soon.
They know that all three will ask bigger salary.

Arsenal still has relatively moderate wage bill (4th in Premier League, after City, Chelsea and United) and if they want to keep their best players, they will have to pay them more.

We can keep Saliba. This is not the early Emirates era. We have the money to pay Saliba above market value and Real aren't the type to try and match that.

Also, aren't people glad that he came later than expected? If he had 6 seasons under his belt here rather than 3, he might be much closer to the exit, assuming he does plan on leaving at some point.

You don't sell a 23-year old world class CB, if you have ambitions to win trophies. Those are the players who you build the team around. Saliba could have 10 years left at the top level, and at 23, he will only get better in the coming years.

Not for sale, but we need trophies to keep these players happy. No one wants to be the next Harry Kane.

The biggest things in life have been achieved by people who, at the start, we would have judged crazy. And yet if they had not had these crazy ideas the world would have been more stupid.
