France 98 is the GOAT. First world cup I was old enough to remember watching - Scotland being unlucky not to get a draw with Brazil when the whole world expected us to get pumped, drawing with Norway then getting pumped from Morocco when a win would of seen us through.
People seem to rate Wavin Flag as the best World Cup song, but I always prefered Carnival De Paris, actually thought Waka Waka was better than Wavin Flag.

You're 100% seeing Norway in the WC again, jokers like Wales make it these days. Also next WC is 48 teams already, hard not to see you in it with with the freak up front.

Hope we meet up again and you get the drubbing you somehow missed out on that day. More likely Morocco get 78% of the ball 16-5 shots and lose 0-4 though.

2006 is my favourite world cup by far, remember being desperate for France to win it.

It was a weird tournament too tho, going into you look at Brazil and even England being heavy favourites, after that Argentina and Germany. I don't think anyone was expecting Italy after all that was going on witht he scandal.

As been mentioned, Zidane vs Brazil was such a special performance tho, just because it was such a star studded Brazil side he was shining above them all.

My first one was actually 2002, remember Ireland largely outplaying Spain, missing a penalty and then losing on penalties.

I remember Italia 90 being my interest into football. (Went onto support Arsenal in 1991). At this time, I was at School, not into football, more into Films.
I was at my Aunties house, they had the World Cup on the TV, in the background. England were playing, (can't remember who against). Was watching it, followed the England team after that.
This was a brilliant goal scored by ex-gooner, David Platt. An iconic moment in Italia 90.

First WC I remember was 86 Maradonna and Mexico. I went to a couple matches live at the Rose bowl in Pasadena in 94. I watched the match of tournament 94 i can’t remember if it was first or second knockout stage 3-2 Romania beat a Maradonna less Argentina. I had tickets to see the bugger live, and days before Maradonna tests positive for coke and gets kicked out of cup. Thankfully one George Hagi the Maradonna of the Carpathians danced around the Argies and was just in the zone.

Part of my football heart always goes back to Italia 90. Baggio, Hagi, Mathaus, Diego & Cannigia, Gullit, Gazza & Waddle etc. Many top players were playing in Serie A. Goals were scarce in the competition but that was the state of top football then.

A rough day for Pat Jennings, but Careca was an excellent player in the World Cup in 1986.

Fully agree, I remember the quarterfinal vs. Yugoslavia so well.

Due to the war, we all wanted to see Yugoslavia lose. The match started off well with my then idol Bergkamp opening the score, but then Yugo equalized. The emotions on this match were insane.
Mijatovic missed a penalty when he hit the crossbar and then the icing on the cake was Davids scoring a worldie from outside the box in dying minutes.

Bonus: Bergkamp made my day when he stomped on that prick Mihajlovic

Lol Mihajlovic was a very good player almost forgot about, flopped at Madrid though. Yeah my WC stories all have some political or personal back story as well

It will not help. The rest, apart from Mohammed Elyounoussi, are absolutely rubbish. In addition the team lacks a winning culture. They always fall apart at the last hurdle. We were winning our Nations League group, pumped Sweden home and away. Then they manage to lose to Slovenia, and fold like a pack of cards to Serbia. Very much like Sp**s really.

That was Mijatovic and he had a good career there tbf. Scored their winner in their 1996 or 1997 win iirc.
