This is a joke lol I mean it's going to be great for smaller nations to see their countries make the world cup but if they get smashed then it is humiliating

it'll be huge for countries who've never participated in WC before,
imagine the likes of S.E. asia or even India who has more population than entire europe. They'd go crazy and pay crazy money to take part

Country: Iceland
The team who wins it will still play 7 games so its good for big nations and big clubs who own their players. If anything the group stages will be easier now. Big players could be rested.

League is very weak
Think we're entering an era where players and fans widely regard club football as their bread and butter.

We're already there, but there is still attachment to international football in some quarters which will surely be affected by this sort of development.

That said though, maybe a certain countries playing in the WC opens up more development routes for the game - India, China etc.

Are they not part of WC qualifying rounds currently? If they cant get out of their respective regions what difference does it make if its the actual WC finals bar more fans taking part in traveling to the host countries (ie more money for FIFA)?

At the Euros loads of teams were playing for 0-0 from the off and I dont see how that doesn't transfer to the WC now they too have expanded the field.

Wouldn't the three teams in a group see to the 0-0 issue? A point doesn't seems as valuable when a win basically puts you through to the next round.

At least they'll be less dead rubber games.

More crap football matches - maybe an elitist view but now it's just a ****ing football fair that makes a ton of c$h for FIFA every 4 years.

Where da **** is the game heading to.

Good decision by Infantino. Spread that sponsorship money - at least in theory- across more FAs, the current system is consolidating the position that Europe and Latin America have and will make the tourney even more boring in the future.

Also a change to less group games, new countries in the tournament, more possible upsets in the KO stages and different matchups instead of the perennial Spain-Italy games can only make the current stale version a bit more attractive

So basically, we will be guaranteed a first round with 6 games a day.... football overload! I will definitely take a pass on the Honduras/ Estonia or Togo- Iceland coming my way.
