YAYA TOURE M.O.M

Well, I imagine we could've tried going into the African Nations Cup. I'm not sure if he would've qualified for a work permit before the tournament.

In the summer, Manchester United and Juventus desperately need midfielders to replace ageing or absent stalwarts. Those two clubs could easily make him their premier target at 10 - 13 million pounds. I imagine Chelsea would want to frustrate Manchester with a 15 - 20 million pound bid.

Personally, if we think that Walcott is worth 8 figures, then Yaya should be there as well given that he's closer to the finished article.

Bingo, Bango, Bongo!
The man is loose, he's limber, and he's ready for action.

£13m? Nope.

And Chelsea only go for players that they want you'll find, however misguided the SWP situation was.

You'll find they can probably use Toure, though. He's better than Diarra and currently better than Jon Obi Mikel. If Maniche goes in the summer, then there will certainly be space for Toure. Don't forget that Makalele is no spring chicken.

And Yaya is the only player in the world?

Chances of Chelsea going for him, I suspect ar slim at best.

The papers might link him, but I don't think they'll show any interest at all.

Ratinho, unfortunately, Drogba doesn't stop raving about the man. Player referrals are often quite important. I'm sure the Roman Army will take a good, long look at Yaya.

I'm just happy that there will be 32 teams in Germany most of which will have midfielders trying to position themselves for better jobs. There might be more gems yet to discover.

Drogba doesn't choose who plays for Chelsea.

I'm sure many of the guys at Chelsea rave about players they are friends with, or play with in their international sides, I doubt Mourinho will buy on that basis.

Yaya Toure is a very good player. If I was Chelsea, I wouldn't be looking at him, at all.

Not to turn our lovely forum into a Chelsea chat site, but I think this is why Chelsea would look at him:

1) They prefer a three man central midfield. Those three are
a) overworked Frank Lampard
b) ageing Makalele
c) sturdy Essien

Off the bench they have
a) Gudjohnson who's really a striker
b) Diarra who isn't quite ready
c) Maniche who could be leaving in June.
d) Geremi who will play anywhere but goalie at this point

Toure is an up and coming player, who could spell Frank Lampard in an attacking role. When you have three central midfielders, you need to have at least two capable back-ups.

Who other than Toure do you believe Mourinho will pursue?

No idea, i'm not the Chelsea manager. Considering Chelsea are the richest club in the world, and probably in the top few in desirability now, they can look at pretty much any player in the world.

Or has Yaya suddenly become amongst the best midfielders in the world?

Lampard, Essien, Makelele, Diarra, Maniche (who I expect Mourinho will want to keep), suggesting to me he'd be looking for a player more in the Lamprd mould to finish off the 6 they probably would like.

If they were interested in Diaby, they can surely be interested in Yaya. Man U wil be interested too.

If wenger wants him though, he will be ours irrespective of chelsea's financial muscle. He would choose us because he would love to play with his brother.

For people advocating for Flamini to go: The next arsenal match that flamini plays, I want you to watch him closely, every single chance you get and tell me what your impression of him will be. Some people are just not flexible here. Flamini wasn't very good when he first came but the guy has transformed so much whoever refuses to see that is just being sturbon in my opinion.

That said, I saw Yaya play yesterday and he completely(100%) sh**ted on Obi Mickel. 100%. Now bear in mind that chelsea and man u are fighting over Obi Mickel and then come back to me and tell if you don't think they will be interested in Yaya.

we don't need a defensive midfielder- we just need a proper CM. That holding role nonsense pisses me off; if we had Yaya, we'd play him with Diaby and have two midfield dynamos. In time Cesc will also be able to fill that role and possibly even Flamini.

Just the thing to get our 4-4-2 back on track; None of this makelele 'i don't cross the halfway line' bollocks.

decent enough player, had a good ACN game against Nigeria a couple of days agom, but with Diaby and Fabregas in the team, two very attack minded CM players. I feel Yaya would be too similar, we need a dirty mother trucker who likes to do nothing more than make tackles and nip opposition attacks in he bud

I agree. Not following the myth that you MUST have a player who sits there and defends, when you have 4 players behinf them for this, and another two at least infront who have elements of this in their game.

Neither Paddy or Manu were defensive midfielders. Scholes and Keane aren't sodding defensive midfielders.

Diaby is a strong complete midfielder, as is a player like Yaya Toure. You don't need specialists players in a side, when you can have players capable of doing more. Bleeds the team dry, you can't have passengers.

of course you don't need two central defensive midfielders. you don't even need one, if said players know when to attack and when to hold back. that is why i am very skeptical to a diaby-cesc central midfield. they both roam around the pitch. i think yaya and cesc or diaby would be better... at least right now. if cesc and diaby are supposed to play together, they need to develop an understanding. when one of them is attacking, the other has to stay behind...

Yaya's going to be too expensive now.. and alot of big clubs are in for him.

We should've got him when he could've cost us barely anything.
