Manchester United and Arsenal are chasing Dnipro playmaker Yevhen Konoplyanka, but face competition from Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen for his signature.

Konoplyanka, dubbed the 'Ukrainian Lionel Messi', is one of the hottest prospects in European football.

The 23-year-old starred for Ukraine at Euro 2012 and boosted his profile further when he scored a stunning goal against England in the World Cup qualifying clash at Wembley in September.

The winger is keen to play in one of Europe’s elite leagues and is available for around £13million.

Konoplyanka’s agent, James Lippett, of World in Motion, told talkSPORT: “Yevhen is very highly rated amongst the top teams in England and Germany. The question is simply whether these clubs can meet Dnipro’s valuation and the player's expectations”.

He's a brilliant, technical, creative winger - a bit like a young Arshavin actually. Him and Yarmolenko would both be welcome here, especially if we sell Gervinho.

A very, very good player. Clearly stands out in the Ukraine national team, and a brilliant shot from distance.

Great player but would prefer Yarmolenko, more of a forward, scores more goals and impressed me more at Euro 2012.

Really like this guy's style of play, and at 23 he has potential to really improve. His dribbling and close control at speed is lovely and is something that we've been sorely missing.

If we could get rid of Gervinho and bring in this guy, or someone with similar attributes to him, I'd be all for it. A proper dribbler in our team would create so many different opportunities.

Agreed - he's an option for the same role we were talking for Nani = to take players on in the final 3rd with ball at feet & to run at defenders.

I understand the preference for goal scorer types like Reus & Yarmolenko,
but I suspect that role has been ear marked for Walcott & Podolski, and a dribbler with pace to replace Gervinho is needed to provide balance and options.

I agree - and you're right if Gervinho goes it definitely opens the door for someone like this guy or Bernard could certainly come in.

I think I'd prefer Yevhen just based on what I've heard from very trusted minds who watch a lot of internationals.. but any creator would be welcome so long as we add a poacher.

I'd love some movement on transfers in the coming weeks and based on Wenger's quotes I'm hopeful - I know we won't get 3 record signings but affordable players like this guy who would create a good buzz would be nice.

I still thin Yarmolenko would fit our needs better. They are at same age, but Yarmo is much better dribbler and does it more, and a scorer too. Konoplyanka looks like he has better work rate and of course shot, but I actually dont see him as better then average when it comes to dribbling

Might be wrong, but I followed Ukraine closely on Euro, cause of those 2 guys that impressed me. If we are to bring one offensive force, Yarmo out of those 2 would be my pick, but if we are still to bring a striker in, then Yehven is better option, simple as that

Don't know too much about this guy but getting excited with the prospect of Gervinho leaving and someone coming in to hopefully bench Podolski.

Read earlier in the week he is supposedly linked to a 10m move to Fulham - however this came out before Fayed put the club on the market.

No way for that money. Konoplyanka's president, or was it coach, cant remember now, clearly said they have to keep their best players if they want to to improve, and not sell them for peanuts. 10 mil for a 23 year old biggest thing they have in Ukraine, alongside Yarmolenko, is not eough

Agreed - saw the headline from The Sun in the BBC Thursday Gossip.
IIRC both the Ukrainian players were talked of here at the time of the Euros.

Konoplyanka is not better than Podolski. Poldi has end product.
