Re: Younes Belhanda.

Silly season kick-off, reportedly a radio station in France said that we have signed Belhanda. Source is in french and off twitter though, but im sure tomorrows papers will pick it up.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Extremely unlikely to be honest, would be nice though. Surely it would mean that at least 2 of Denilson, Diaby, Ramsey and Rosicky are off though.

Brilliant player, I'll jump for joy if we do this. Would Montpellier be willing to sell their 2 offensive stalwarts to us though?

Some scouting reports on him:

A Liverpool site, but eh, scouting reports are universal. Just skip the part about how he fits in to the Liverpool side I guess.

Rene Girard compares him to Pires.

I like his game. Quick feet, very mobile, can do link-up in tight situation or under marking. He should suit Arsenal's style but he will cost.

I'm not sure how much Montpellier can do to stop him going if he wants out really.

Personally if we signed him he'd be for me the most important signing we'd make. I'm a big fan, he's calm in possession, has an eye for goal, can slot players in the gap between defenders (i've missed that with Cesc gone) and can dribble. He started off as a DM and was moved forward so you know he has the defensive side to things in his locker which is important considering the work rate Rosicky often had last season. He seems to be built quite well too so shouldn't struggle with the physicality of the Prem especially after a year here.

Completely fits the bill for me in ability, price, availability and stature. With the likes of him, Podolski, Giroud, RVP and possibly M'Vila we'd truly have a team that isn't going to be bullied, is fairly young, is well rounded and technically talented.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Great player but more of a dribbler type and therefor he's not suited as an AM in our system. We need a visionary who can give the team 10-15 assists per season, too bad that those players are hard to find.

It's handy that we already have one in Wilshere then? The plan was always to push him further up the pitch, which I think we will see more of this season if he can get his injuries behind him.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Love, Wilshere but he can easily miss a big chunk of the season and if he hasn't played enough at AM yet to be seen as our first choice AM. This guy could easily turn out to a deep midfielder players like Schweinsteiger or Arteta.

People are going to think I hate this lad, but no no no as an automatic starting option based on his potential. Even Oxlade, who I believe is going to be huge, perhaps bigger than Jack, struggled to be a consistent force in this position for us. We need proven or semi experienced quality at this position to rotate with and even displace Rosicky in this role. The others have to develop and become consistent first before being given that role automatically.

In short, no more Ramsey like experimentation in such a key area.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Signing Belhanda presumably means that long-term Wenger sees Wilshere as one of the two deeper-lying midfielders. Rosicky is probably our best bet for that advanced position at the moment, but he doesn't have long left, maybe another two years tops, and Ramsey still needs time.

Sounds like a very good signing, I'd be all for it.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Would be a typical Wenger signing, very very versatile: he can play CM, CAM and on the wing (don't know which wing though).

I'd like to see this in our midfield then:
----Belhanda/(Wilshere)/Rosicky
--Arteta/Song/(Wilshere)
------M'Vila/Coquelin

Ramsey out (loan)
Diaby and Denilson out (sell)

But that's of course only when we buy M'Vila, I think the DM still remains our first priority.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

I don't see this happening, I think he'll stay at Montpellier for another season and they don't really need to sell after getting around 12M for Giroud. He'll probably go City next season after they get rid of Nasri.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Can't really see this happening after getting cazorla but I would love for us to sign this guy. Considering we lost both cesc and nasri last year and rosicky is old and crocked there should be some space no? Or maybe he could be moulded into a left midfielder cutting in ala pires and nasri, or stand in for arteta when he gets injured, after all he started his career as a dm.

He got 12 goals and 5 assists in 28 games last season, was nominated for player of the year but lost out to hazard, won young player of the year though, he's born in 1990 so he's still got lots of room to become even better.

Yes, I bumped this for no good reason other than me browsing youtube videos. This guy looks like a star in the making though, and a much better prospect than ramsey and diaby for example. THIS is the kind of talented young players we should be going for. Not as hyped as say hazard so he'd be cheaper, but still obviously an immense talent that can allready perform at a high level.

Re: Younes Belhanda.

Liked him in the summer, but can't complain when the alternative was Santi Cazorla.

Inter perhaps looking to (finally) start the rebuilding process it seems, replacing Sneijder with Belhanda.
