Young guns or another excuse?

yeah but i think the columnist just over simplified the story. when wenger said young, it also means in terms of age and experience in the top flight. and the law of averages means that large numbers can easily seam to make up for shortcomings. the oldest guys lehmann, cygun, are the best we can do at the moment, we all know why cyguns playing( no ashley) but they have both done well, bobby aint even a regular any more and gilberto and henry are not at their best. its worht nothing that were we lack personell and competent replacements, we are the youngest, its a fact.
this has been one of Arsène's most trying season so far. dont forget rafa's liverpool, they took a long 2 come together now they are finally here. we are going thru the same, no doubt; its inevitable. at least we didnt wait 50yrs like chelski

We have to put the older people in because the rest are injured...

Cole is 24
Van Persie is 22

If Pires and Cygan were not playing, then our average age would be lower.

 Owned by facts.

We absolutely have no excuse. I think Mr Wenger needs to sort out that CM and shut up with the youth crap. It's already well established over the first half of the season that Cesc is not good enough yet. Give him 2-3 yrs and he might be the best next thing on the pitch.

it's a very foolish article, typical of false science.

chel$ki has a very young keeper. that alone pull down the average

look at the standard error, chel$ki is very low. their players are all on golden times. while on arsenal case, we have no players aged 25-27. the olders will step down while the young are struggling to mature. our standard error is a lot larger.

the more players aged 31+,the more pressure for us to use younger player.many factors to consider wile review a team's age structure.

so our younger players are a lot younger especially considering cygan should be replaced by cole or even clichy! pires is no longer our regular starer.

somebody also calculatedour average age of one of CC match,it's about 20 except almunia.

These stats are misleading. As someone already said, that's just the lineup we played that night, with some younger players missing.

Also I'd say that it's our overall squad that is the youngest of the big 4. Chelsea have more players in their peak who, if injured, can be replaced by players of a similar age, whereas we replace missing experienced players with youngsters. That's the difference. This article is trying to be clever, but it's failed.

maybe wengers first choice ten is

Lauren 28 Touré 24 Campbell 31/senderos21 Cole 24

Fábregas 18 Gilberto 29/flamini21

Hleb 24 /Freddie29 Reyes 22

v.Persie21 Henry 28

not mention eboue21, clichy,almunia,quincy,song,etc
average of the ten : 24.05 very very young

That guy has a point.
Our midfield is insanely younger than theirs.
How old is Freddie? 28?

the author of the article is so stupid. if he calculate Arsène for average, our everage age would reach almost 30. but he forgot that in atheletic field, old guys are less powerful than mid-aged, as well as youngster. asuming you have a combination of 10 + 40 and another comb of 25 X 2, you get the same average age 25, but it's obvious which one does work on field.

2nd article actually makes sense, 1st author needs to get off their knees and wipe their mouth, mourinho enjoyed it

if you look at the youngest possible "realistic" starting lineups, they are as follows:

Arsenal:
Lehmann 36
Eboue 22
Touré 24
Senderos 20
Cole 25
Reyes 22
Fábregas 18
Flamini 21
Hleb 24
van Persie 22
Henry 28
Average age 23.82

Manchester Utd
Van der Sar 35
Neville 30
Ferdinand 27
Richardson 21
Silvestre 28
Ronaldo 20
Flethcer 25
O'Shea 24
Park 24
Rooney 20
Saha 27
Average age 25.55

Chelsea
Cech 23
Del Horno 24
Johnson 21
Terry 25
Carvahlo 27
Essien 23
Cole 24
Lampard 27
Robben 21
Drogba 27
Wright-Phillips 24
Average age 24.18

we have by far the youngest team... and to that, our youngest possible "realistic" starting lineup is much more probable as a starting lineup than ManUre's or Chelski's...

should have changed the goalkeepers of united and arsenal to almunia and howard repectively, or not included them in your average, as they have a severe effect on the average.

but they are not anywhere near "likely" starters... and why would i not include the age of the starting keepers? they are part of the starting lineups.. even WITH Jens as out starting keeper, our average is still very low...

About as likely to start as Eboue, who will not displace lauren unless he gets injured or suspended.
