Which player do you look back on and wonder how things would’ve worked out differently for them? Mine has always been Abou Diaby:

No one can convince that an injury free Diaby wouldn’t have become a world beater

Not sure if it counts as it’s more of a decision rather than a player but I do often wonder how we would have gotten on had we signed Higuain rather than Özil at the time. Not because I have any preconception that it would have been better, just out of curiosity.

How Jack Wilshere would have done without the injuries would be one I would love to know.

Another one would be if Gnabry had remained at Arsenal although I’m not convinced he would have become the same player

As soon as I saw the thread title, Abou Diaby popped straight into mind! The guy would've, and should've, become a monster for us. I've always regretted that one! Was it Sunderland? Late on after battering them, such a pointless, vindictive 'challenge' 🙄🤬

Diaby for me also! Sublime player that I feel like we only seen a small sample of how good he would have been.
Also agree with @Oxeki with Eduardo - not only did the injury cost us a gem of a player, but to this day, in my opinion, it’s the reason we didn’t win the league that year.

Sol had a lot of personal problems I think which ended his career with us a couple of years too soon.

We should’ve picked Kolo over Gallas when they fell out.

One of Wenger’s worst mistakes was not giving Gnabry the game time although I concede we were fighting for a title at the time.

Diaby and Wilshere for sure. Dudu was also very promising. Let me add my own option though. Kieran Gibbs. I even bought his shirt back in the day when he played as a junior winger. He suffered several injuries exactly when he should have taken that decisive step to become a starting player, and he never recovered from them.

Always wondered what type of player Vela could have been if things had gone differently. He looked very good for Real Sociedad, and even then, it felt like he was playing at 40% of his ability.
Was thinking of him too, a little more professionalism could’ve gone a long way:

Ronaldo under Arsène Wenger would have broken the matrix.
This thread is people who actually played for the club but didn’t pan out for one reason or another.

Has to be Wilshere. Real shame out it went down for him. Same as Diaby.

Also want to give a shout out to Gedion Zelalem, we will never forget that 2013 pre season 🕊️

Geoff Arsenal reconed he’d be better than Özil lmao

I was fighting most of A-M saying we shouldn’t send him on loan to West Brom, but everyone was saying Tony Pulis would teach him how to play OOP. 🤣
