No wonder we didn't win stuff for years when we had the likes of Chamakh, Bendtner, Welbeck & Gervinho upfront.

I know you all love him, but I'd include Hleb in that list as well. Couldn't score for toffee... 89 PL appearances and a total of 7 goals & 6 assists... We'd be crying if Trossard got that in a single season

As a serious guess, I would say Reyes.

If he was a little tougher as a player, then I feel he could have been an absolute legend here... ability wise I thought he was crazy good, great mix of dribbling/speed and passing ability... wonderful player to watch.

Ramsey, Wilshere, Cesc, RVP, Nasri, Diaby, Eduardo, Özil, Santi.

The PGMOL and the moneybag sheikhs and oilmen really went after us. players knew they had to leave to get a fair shake. they saw their mates getting hacked and broken with the referees looking on indulgently.

I am sorry, are people actually saying Carl Jenkinson or am I just having a mini stroke?

The latter is preferable really.
yeah he is one of the greatest talents ever in football, he would've surpassed Henry's goal tally eventually.

As soon as I saw the thread title, Abou Diaby popped straight into mind! The guy would've, and should've, become a monster for us. I've always regretted that one! Was it Sunderland? Late on after battering them, such a pointless, vindictive 'challenge' 🙄🤬
Dan Smith, who ended up in a call centre with straight red challenge

I mean I've mentioned it before but with his tools he would've been a great striker if his head was in it. Don't think anyone would really disagree with that, dude was huge, decently quick, pretty good technically for his size, immense in the air and was honestly pretty good off the ball.

He wouldn't have been like world class or anything like that but you could easily see Bendtner put together a Giroud-type career if he wasn't a moron.
For sure - looking at his raw attributes and his output before the age of 21 - he really should have been a top player. Lovely partnership with Arturo Lupoli, who left on a bosman only to make bad career decisions all the way to retirement.

Another big what if is of course Galli, the Italian wonderkid who died in a moped crash. Was already a regular on loan in peak Serie A at 17. Supposedly the next Maldini and the clear standout in our youth set up

Unreal dribbler and certified baller, I won't hear otherwise. Those two goals against Fulham are permanently etched into my brain.

He may be a drip doctor patient but the fake shots, and balance with him waltzing past players were so good to watch.
oh yes...i loved him so much. he was so talented, so good on the ball. It hurt more that he left than cesc leaving. Some time ago, friends were discussing the most talented arsenal player and I said, that for a few moments, Nasri was right up there. Unreal talent.

too bad the oil money got him. he really had no other choice. Thats how the game is now. its all sold out. Will always remember him fondly . was a joy to watch

Weird one for me but it's probably Julio Baptiste or Arshavin.

When we signed Arshavin I remember beating Sp**s to him and his then goal scoring game against Liverpool, I immediately thought we had a worldie.

but he somehow faded and never made it out to be the russian superstar he was. I think in his second season he was a lot better goal wise or was that his third.

Baptiste, another one who we beat those spuddies to, and he looked like an absolute beast but never really settled imo and was a bit of a flop.

It's the same as how people treated that inbred Shawcross like the victim after he snapped Rambo's leg and continued to play like a thug for an entire career. These talentless cretins think they have license to go out and injure people they aren't talented enough to compete with and then they moan when people hate them.
Ben Thatcher for me. Absolute bellend of a player and a thug. Had no talent whatsoever other than being part of the crazy gang.

Jack Wilshere.

I was in love with this guy. Great player and a strong character. He should be captain for us and England right now.

The close control, that famous “burst”, the passing range and above all, the tenacity. He could’ve been a complete midfielder.

Abou Diaby a close second, could’ve had a Yaya Toure esque career. I always loved how we defrosted him to deal with Liverpool.

I’ll go with Carlos Vela for my third choice. Could easily be Eduardo. But Vela could’ve been special had he taken the game more seriously. He went for comfort instead of really pushing himself.

Isn’t he the one who tried to kill Pedro Mendes?
Yeh against Portsmouth. Absolute criminal what he did, ran into him full pelt and elbowed him. I think, could be wrong, it was just a yellow card? Proper assault though. Plus for Sp**s he was a neanderthal too.

If Gabriel Jesus hadn't gotten injured during a random winter world cup, we are likely champions already in my opinion

Diaby is an odd one to think about.

Outrageously talented on the ball for his size, and he was also very athletically gifted. His positional awareness and defending, though... That was poor.

Very disappointing to see how it ended for him personally. Midfielders typically develop that game later on in their career, and he never got the chance.
