Still don't particularly want him: not much to shout about physically; lacks Xhaka's passing consistency; lacks defensively imo. How much do the club want him?

This is because Xhaka's pass selection is generally lower risk and in safer areas.

Pay particularly close attention to "Press" in pass types which refers to passes made while under pressure from an opponent. You can see the issue we have with beating the press when using Xhaka.



Another interesting perspective is defensive actions, particularly tackles in the middle 3rd of the pitch:



Xhaka and Tielemans aside, we made a huge ****ing mistake not signing Bruno Guimaraes and it is easy to see why we were bullied in midfield at St. James Park.

Of course it is. Xhaka’s the only midfielder we have that doesn’t really suit the 433, but he’s a big presence in the dressing room and one of the manager’s favourite. He needs to go though. And I hope Arteta is wise enough to let that happen.

I think Tielemans would be way more likely than Paqueta, haven't bought those rumours at all. With Zinchenko's ability to also play in midfield I think this is highly unlikely now though.
