Looked like his old self in the last couple of performances it seems & showed his class, hopefully we get this wrapped up soon.

He can be the Queen of Belgium but I don't care. If he doesn't have the level to play as sub for Arsenal he needs to be loaned. Boy doesn't even have the physique to compete. You talk like Belgium ligue were any good.
Last I saw Belgium was producing top players at a rate of knots and their national team was ranked first in the world. But sure they let any old rubbish get games for them.

Lokonga may not be quite ready, but he is a proper player and will get lots of game time off the bench & in the EL this season.

He's a defensive midfielder.
So is Partey and his Progressive Passes per 90 is over 5 - more than double. This is the whole issue. Bissouma is a good player, but while he would help defensively and has some skill, he simply can't give us what Partey does. And isn't likely to fancy sitting on our bench

Partey can't be relied upon all season. We have seen that since he's arrived. So while Bissouma may not be a carbon copy maybe he offers something better than we have.

Obviously now we aren't getting Bissouma but if our entire game and team structure relies on Partey we may as well give up now.

If Partey misses a 3rd of the season injured and a few games to get back up to match fitness is he really that good to pin all our hopes on him for like 20 games a season? At 29? On 200k a week?

My point isn't that Bissouma wouldn't be a good back up. Its 1) he wouldn't sign to be on the bench 2) as he can't really do what we want from the role, there's not a huge amount of merit in signing him for £25m+ signing on + wages when that money can go on more urgent reinforcements - like an attack or a number 8 who can play penetrative passes.

So when Partey breaks down next year for 3 months which he has proven he always does what do we do. Play Xhaka at 6 or Elneny? Is that our play. Our season depends on a crock not getting injured?

If you are good manager you rotate them like Klop does. They have more than 3 first players in the middle. We can do that, rotating Tielmans, Partey, Ode and Bissouma could be so easy. That would prevent injuries for Partey and Ode. Bissouma doesn't need to be Partey sub, he can play easily some matches next to Partey or more advanced as B2B. There are a lot of combinations and would.ve only benefitial.

Meanwhile Lokonga goes a season on loan to develop at PL or championship.

We use Partey as a one man press breaker. Xhaka and Ødegaard stay high and we count on Partey to not only receive the ball from our back five but to also turn, beat one or two men, then find someone with a pass through the lines. That’s just when he has the ball. When he doesn’t he recovers the ball when we lose it in attack, breaks up our opponents transitions, and picks up runners. In short, there aren’t 5 midfielders that can do everything he does for us as well as he does it. That being the case, we can’t replace him with Bissouma or anyone else we could acquire (though we can improve on our other replacement options).

That being said, when he’s out our other midfielders are going to have to share his duties. An advantage of having Tielemans (who covers more ground than Xhaka and is more press resistant) on the pitch is he can drop deeper to help beat the press (for Lakonga) and progress the ball as well (for Elneny). Ou shape would effectively morph into a 4-2-3-1 until we’re in the attacking third.

Did you tell the Tetasexuals that celebrated 5th to have some pride?
Who celebrated 5th, lol?

Did you tell you and the rest of the forum to have some pride when after 3 games you and the rest ruled out us finishing top 6, predicted a mid-table finish or worse, and ridiculed people who said we would finish 6th or perhaps even compete for 4th? 🤣

Conte is brilliant with his sytem, but never sticks around for long. It may or may not be a strong start. Remember most of their expenditure will be paying to keep Romero & Bentancur, and the second year of Kulusevski's loan. Great for them to get their business done early, but not bothered one way or another about the individuals
Struggled mightily in his second season in England. Let's see how he does this time around.

Anyways, Bentacur and Hojberg are better than Bissouma. Glad to see Tottenham spending £25m on a bench option, these are the kind of signings that keep them in their regular Tottenham purgatory.

The problem isn't that he is a crock, the problem is that people keep thinking way too high of Partey. Bissouma benches him easily.

Partey dropped by his own admission a 4/10 first season, and the second one is arguably a 3.5/10 considering all Elneny, a nothing player, had to do to earn an extension is to walk casually on 3 games, which was an upgrade on the turnover machine Partey was becoming. Partey's game on the ball is certainly more pleasing to the eyes, but we're comparing one of the best DMs in the league to someone that couldn't reliably outperform Xhaka after 2 years. It's obvious who would go to the bench in that scenario.

From the actual article:

Tielemans may be Leicester’s highest-profile departure this summer and they would prefer the situation to be resolved sooner rather than later. But while there is plenty of talk about interest from Arsenal, there still hasn’t been any concrete action.

The general feeling is that a bid will come in and Tielemans has admitted he would be open to a move so, as long as the figure offered is acceptable, that deal should be fairly straightforward.

Not sure Tanner is talking specifically about Arsenal in the second paragraph. Its a parody that we havent made a bid yet either way.

Excited for this signing. Technically quality, has PL experience playing as a number 8 in a 433, never injured (hopefully he doesn't get the Arsenal curse).

Ødegaard-Partey-Tielemans I think is a good midfield on paper. The key is keeping these guys fit.

People go on about us lacking physicality in midfield but it all started going to **** when we lost the technique from the middle of the pitch.

The reliable Belgian papers seem to only be linking him with Arsenal now that Real signed Touchingmany.
