You've convinced us, Now convince Europe

It goes without saying That the man that wears our No. 14 jersey is one

of the greatest in the world in his position, not only is he a striker, but he

sets up his team mates when they are more likely to score, and he is also

involved in almost all our build ups to any goal. But, what he does in the

premieship against the Blackburns and the Norwichs must be emulated in

games against bigger opposition like the mancs and the red army of west-

london. Also, against the bigger European sides, if he were able to do what

he did against Inter away last season against Chelesea in the quarter-

finals, we would be parading the cup down the kings road, but having said

that, he must improve his weakest aspect of the game,,his heading, against

Norwich when he scored that brialliant header we thought " Now hes on the

right track " but it doesnt matter if you score such headers against Norwich

or not,,if he was good in the air we would not that against the mancs or

whoever we need when a good cross comes in and is almost wasted.

Wenger needs Thierry to work on his heading better, and encourage all

the forwards to do so. If we dont improvise sometimes in big games the

opposition will think that we play in a one dimensional way by breaking and

countering. this must be tackled if we are to avoid champions league

heartbreak again this season.

I must say we..have improved on one area. That is crossing of the ball. Now we can work on the heading... We actually made more crosses then Manure? Can u believe that. And this time those crosses were pretty descent. Unfortunately our strikers/mids..can't pull away from defenders. But its still progress.

this is a good point. look at Chelsea against Moscow last matchday, they were outplayed for most of the game, but were able to score from set pieces with two headers and grind out a result. our inability to grind results out like this especally in Europe has cost us dearly.

Henry doesnt have a big match temperament. Simple as that. He has gone missing too many times to be a coincidence now.

yeah sad but true. his biggest flaw in my opinion is how easily he becomes discouraged and disinterested when he doesnt see the ball enough.

Henry never scored a hat trick against Juve. He is capable of playing well in the big games, but more often than not he has been very disappointing.

in another word - lazy

i would hardly consider Henry lazy... he gets frustrated when he is closed off from the link to the midfield... that's why he does as well as he does.. when he has no service, he doesnt play as well.. thats what happens when opponents pack the midfield...

An interesting editorial about Arsenal's Champions League fortunes that reiterates many the things that have been brought up in this forum. Feel free to disregard the reference to Horseface if it is too distasteful, or simply change it to "a player like Horseface".

I think he is way off base on some of the issues(demise of Italian supremacy in the CL). Its proven difficult having an alternate to Wengerball. To be effective with the alternate option, need to to buy 3-4 players.

Its not only Henry who won't adjust to the alternate option. Below is the list of players who will most likely not be on the lineup. This is if we are to really be effective with the alternate and not just getby with it.

Henry
Pires
Freddie
Cole ?? Will be extremely underutilized
Bergy - u all know where he was when the crosses kept coming
Vieira - Can adjust but no more RUNS for him

So what does Wenger do in this situation? Buy another team to play the alternate, do with what we have which means a mediocre execution of the alternate style or focus on our strength?

You make the call!!!

i agree that henry can be quiet in big games... however, this is the problem for all players with flair... players who can turn the game in a second, players who can be quiet for 80 minutes of the game and then come up with a winner... one moment of inspiration...

more so for strikers as they need the service from midfield... other than that, he can only pressure the defenders... running without the ball, etc... imagine not having the ball for long spells of the game and when you get it, you are kicked left right and center or there's simply nobody to pass to!

in a way he has 'spoilt' us by doing it nearly week in and week out in the EPL but what can wenger do when he's quiet, sub him?

I feel we need just a player who will free Henry up in Europe. Too many times he has been shackled out of a game and the solution to this would be to get a striker who would keep the defenders occupied so
a) They won't be able to pressurise us completely when they have the ball
b) Henry has more space to do his work down the left side
c) When we are not playing as well as we could be, we will not be completely on the backfoot. ie. the defenders will be hassled so badly that we will undoutably get a chance every once in a while.

I feel Reyes could do this job for us when upfront as he will not give defenders any respite and as a result we will have more freedom up front to be explioted by Henry.
