Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has branded Arsenal a ‘pub team’ in a short social media spat.

The former Manchester United defender was in attendance as the Gunners slumped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Man City on the opening day of the season.

Neville, who part-owns Salford City, was hitting back at an Arsenal fan after he criticised the price of tickets for Salford’s upcoming game against Chesterfield.

The National League side, co-owned by Gary, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, were advertising Saturday’s tie on Twitter.

One Arsenal fan called out Neville for the price of the ticket. He tweeted: “£10 to watch a pub team?”

Neville promptly responded and replied: “£70 to watch your pub team v City last Sunday.”

The post reached 14,000 likes and over 2,000 retweets in a matter hours.

Arsenal take on Chelsea this Sunday at Stamford Bridge. Unai Emery will be keen to avoid a second successive defeat and relieve some early pressure on his shoulders.
