Arsenal’s transfer window has come to a close but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the discussions, as there’s now many revelations and opinions floating around.

Some consider the Gunners’ window to have been a failure, despite the club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette, and it’s no secret that Arsenal themselves were eying further big deals- notably Monaco ace Thomas Lemar, who rejected a Deadline Day switch.

However, he may not have been the only Monaco man to switch the French principality for North London this summer had things gone different as young starlet Kylian Mbappe has revealed joining Arsenal was a real option this summer.

Quoted by The Telegraph as stating during his unveiling at Paris Saint-Germain, the 18-year-old said:

“Yes, I met with Arsene Wenger, who is a great coach. He has a great reputation here in France, he’s well-respected and knows how to develop young players. This was a real option for me. But, of course, Paris Saint-Germain was the main option.”

“We weighed up the advantages and disadvantages of all the clubs but my family told me it had to be my decision and one I needed to make. It also had to be a long-term decision. So it was up to me and I decided to come here in order to develop.”

Eventually Mbappe elected to return to Paris and represent his boyhood side, initially on-loan with an obligation to buy next summer, where he helps create a phenomenal strike force alongside Neymar.
