Jack Wilshere’s performance against BATE Borisov has shown Arsenal fans just why they shouldn’t give up on him.

The Englishman bossed the midfield against the Belarusian side throughout and was outstanding for the Gunners in their 4-2 win.

Wilshere has spent a large chunk of his professional career on the sidelines, but Arsenal fans are desperate to see him become a mainstay in their team.

Injuries have blighted his career, but Arsene Wenger believes the player is heading in the right direction.

“He fights until the end. He’s on his way back to his best and showed that,” said the boss (via BBC Sport).

Wilshere set up Walcott’s opener.

“He’s at an age where a player normally gets to the best of his career. He’s on the way up. He’s only been stopped by a series of injuries,” Wenger continued.

“Hopefully, I just pray, he is not hampered by any more problems and that will see him getting stronger and stronger. He’s shown again that he’s not lost his football.”

Theo Walcott scored twice, while Olivier Giroud claimed his 100th goal in Arsenal colours, but it is Wilshere Arsenal fans are shouting about.

Here’s what they’ve been saying on Twitter…
