Arsenal were dealt a huge blow during the international break as centre-back Shkodran Mustafi suffered a suspected muscle tear whilst playing for Germany.

The defender hobbled off during the German’s  5-1 win over Azerbaijan in Kaiserslautern on Sunday evening, and Gunners fans aren’t happy.

Germany boss Joachim Low said after the match that Mustafi faced “a longer break” on the sidelines following the injury. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is now considering who to replace 25 year-old with at the heart of his defence.

Mustafi was forced off in the early stages.

Calum Chambers and Per Mertesacker have both been tipped to start Arsenal’s next game away to Watford.

Wenger who now tends to implement three centre-halves may revert back to a conventional back four.

Arsenal fans are far too familiar with their stars returning from international breaks with injuries. And they are far from happy with the news they are set to face a long spell without one of their key defenders.
