Pep Guardiola says he “understands” the difficulties Arsene Wenger faces at Arsenal.

His comments follow Man City’s 3-0 triumph at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night to put them 30 points clear of Wenger’s side. Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Leroy Sane scored fine first-half goals for City as they moved closer to the Premier League title.

The Citizens claimed their second 3-0 victory over Arsenal in just four days having dispatched them the Gunners in the League Cup final last weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s position has once again come into question, but Guardiola has backed his managerial counterpart.

“He knows my admiration for him,” said the City boss.

“We play, we fight many, many times in Barcelona, a lot of times in Bayern Munich, a lot of times here in Premier League. A lot of times.

“I can understand the situation. I know all the managers can be in that situation. He knows, he handles that situation. He has a lot of experience.

“He knows the club, he knows the Premier League, he knows his players. And I’m sure he’s going to take the right decision, for the club, for him, for the players, for everybody.”

Arsenal have now lost 7 times since the turn of the year.

Gooners, can you see Wenger remaining in charge beyond this season? Let us know in the comments…
