Arsenal are reportedly giving thought to allowing Danny Welbeck to leave at the end of the season.

Welbeck has struggled for form this season and has started just seven Premier League games.

The England international has 18 months left on his current deal, but according to reports in the Daily Mail, Arsenal may choose to end their relationship prematurely.

The signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, as well as the new deal for Mesut Ozil, have placed strain on the Gunners’ wage bill, and it may mean some players could leave to reduce costs.

Welbeck has been taking home £70,000-a-week since signing from Manchester United in 2014. That’s despite two serious knee injuries that collectively kept the striker sidelined for a year-and-a-half.

His flexibility in playing out wide may play an important part in securing a new deal, but there is no doubt that his fitness issues could play a role in upcoming negotiations.
