Gunners loanee Reiss Nelson explains why he’s been dropped by Hoffenheim

Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson who’s currently on loan at Hoffenheim has revealed the reason he’s been struggling at Hoffenheim in recent weeks.

Nelson began his loan spell in Germany in fantastic form, charting six Bundesliga goals by Februrary.

However, his good performance and game time have dried up. Nelson was left out of the Hoffenheim squad for their clash with Nurnberg on March 10 by boss Julian Nagelsmann.

Injuries and finally a lack of discipline saw him left out of the squad for the match which Hoffenheim won 2-1.

And the Gunners loanee has admitted the reason for his punishment for being late for training, but insists he has learned the error of his ways.

‘I was late to training, I was 20 minutes late, and that’s something I need to learn from,’ Nelson told Press Association Sport (via Metro Sport)

‘You can make mistakes but it’s your job and you shouldn’t be late.

‘I held my hand up and I said sorry to him [Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann] and we both moved on as bigger men. He put me in the squad the next week because I’d been doing well.’

Nelson’s has kept up his form for England under-21’s. The teenager collected an assist in the 5-1 thumping of Denmark last week.
