Jack Wilshere is reportedly closing in on a new deal with Arsenal which will see him take a reduce wage.

The playmaker is has just five months to run on his current contract with the Gunners and would be free to leave the club in June if he fails to put pen to paper.

Arsene Wenger has pleaded for calm amongst Arsenal fans and insists the club can persuade Wilshere to remain at the Emirates.

The Englishman has reportedly been offered a reduced basic salary. Wilshere is set to drop from a weekly wage of £110,000 to around £90,000, although he could still be paid around £110,000-a-week with appearances related incentives.

The midfielder has always pledged his love for the club and claims he wants to continue at the Emirates.

After years of an injury plagued career, Wilshere is now playing regular football and has performed superbly for the Gunners this season.

He’ll be hoping to figure in Wenger’s plans when his side face Tottenham in the North London Derby on Saturday.
