Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has completed a loan move to AS Roma.

The Armenia international will spend the rest of this campaign in Rome, with the Serie A club paying the entirety of his wages.

Mkhitaryan emerged as a late target of Roma on Sunday night before completing his move on Monday’s deadline day in Italy.

The 30-year-old midfielder who came on as a second-half substitute in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham has failed to register a goal or assist so far this season.

He flew to Italy’s capital the following morning to undergo a medical with the Serie A giants.

It’s understood Roma will be paying Mkhitaryan’s £200,000-a-week wages and have the option to buy the Armenian at any time during his stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

The midfielder who arrived in a straight swap for Alexis Sanchez in January 2018 has struggled to maintain a starting place in North London.

Unai Emery deemed the former Borussia Dortmund star surplus to requirements and the club have elected to continue thin the wage bill.

He has played 58 times for the Gunners, netting nine times.
