Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the subject of a late transfer pursuit by from Roma.
The Sun report that the Serie A side are “very close” to agreeing a loan deal for the Arsenal playmaker.
It’s transfer deadline day for sides in Europe and Mkhitaryan could be heading to Italy on loan until the end of the season with Roma having the option to make the deal permanent.
The Armenian looks set to only have a squad role this season at Arsenal following the £72m summer arrival of Nicolas Pepe, as well as the loan acquisition of Dani Ceballos.
After a disappointing 2018/19 season, Mkhitaryan is yet to register a goal or assist this term.
The former Borussia Dortmund star was involved in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez who switched Arsenal for Manchester United in January 2018.
He’s made 59 appearances for the Gunners, scoring nine goals.
A deal would push Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson up the pecking order.
