As his team drew level with Nottingham Forest’s 42-game unbeaten streak yesterday, star striker Thierry Henry has praised Arsène Wenger’s shrewd hand in the transfer market as being a major factor in Arsenal’s success.

Henry believes Wenger’s ability to find undiscovered talent has been crucial to their success.

“The man you have to give credit to is Arsène. It is unbelievable,” he said. “He pulled Kolo Touré out of his magic hat and now he’s pulled out [Cesc] Fabregas.

Henry had plenty of praise for the teenager: “It is not only the way he plays but he looks so mature,” he said.

“He looks like he is controlling the game. It is a long time since I’ve seen something like that. The guy fits in the team and plays like he has been there a long time.”

Wenger himself talked about Fabregas’s undoubted talent. “If this boy (Fabregas) plays between 15 and 20 games in the first team at 17 years of age, it is fantastic,” Wenger said.

“For me, he plays like a boy of 25 to 28 years for his assurance and mental strength. He has great resistance.”
