HE’S BACK! Theo Walcott’s five BEST goals for Arsenal

I’m sure we all let out a collective cheer – and sigh of relief – when it was announced on Monday that Theo Walcott had returning to full first-team training after nine months out.

Walcott’s eye for goal, explosive acceleration and pace and all round link-up play has been missed greatly – anyone else excited to see how Alexis Sanchez and Theo play together!?

I’m sure it won’t be long before the former Southampton ace is adding to his 69 goals for Arsenal in all competitions.

25th February 2007 Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

Sure, we did eventually lose the League Cup final to Chelsea that day, however, it will be a day that Walcott will always remember as the day he scored his first goal for Arsenal.

Playing a cool one-two with Abou Diaby, Theo glided into Chelsea’s area before dispatching empathically into the back of the net.

30th October 2011: Chelsea 3-5 Arsenal

Anyone else still trying to work out how Theo Walcott tripped over between Jon Obi Mikel and Ramires and came out with the ball the other side? I’m going for that he meant it.

Anyway, once out the other side, Walcott darted between another two Chelsea defenders before coolly slotting past Petr Cech.

29th December 2012 Arsenal 7-3 Newcastle United

Walcott actually bagged himself a hat-trick in the 10-goal thriller, however, the goal I want to single out is the one that secured the match ball for our England international.

Taking a quick free-kick with Jack Wilshere in the corner, Walcott wasn’t interested in seeing out the game and with a combination of skill, sliding and stumbling, Walcott waltzed past four Newcastle defenders and delicately chipped the ball into the net.

Okay, I lied. I also want to focus on another goal from that game, one that resulted in the commentator saying: “just like Thierry would’ve done it.”

Latching onto a superb defence-splitting pass from Lukas Podolski, Walcott broke the offside trap, left the defenders eating his dust before he opened his body and finessed the ball past Tim Krul.

Yep, just like, Thierry.

3rd November 2010 Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 Arsenal

Probably one of my favourite ever Arsenal goals, despite the result, as the Gunners broke from a Donetsk corner with devastating effect.

Playing a quick one-two with Jack Wilshere, Theo ran onto the return pass from inside his own half, showed ridiculous pace to run the length of the pitch before slotting the ball past the on-rushing ‘keeper before he’d even reached the penalty area.
