Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been a peripheral figure so far this season.

With just one Premier League match and one League Cup run out, it appears boss Unai Emery is trying to force the German out of the club.

However, after recently revealing his determination to see out his contract, despite falling out of favour at The Emirates, we’ve calculated just how much he would earn… even if he never plays for the club again.

The midfielder is the higher earner at the Gunners after penning a £350,000-a-week deal under former manager Arsene Wenger in 2018.

The 31-year-old’s career in North London looked to be over under successor Unai Emery, with the Spaniard actively looking to offload him in January.

And this summer was the same story. However, no club was prepared to pay Ozil’s extortionate weekly wage.

The playmaker insists he will see out his Arsenal contract, which still has two years to run until the summer of 2021.

And by our calculation, the German still has 89 weeks left until his deal expires.

That’s 89 weeks of £350,000. A total of £31.15 million for a player who has only featured in two of Arsenal’s 11 games this season and has been left out of the last three matchday squads entirely.
