Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny attendedĀ the World Cup final win over Croatia despite not making the French 23-man squad.

The Arsenal defender suffered an Achilles injury in May, shortly before the Didier Deschamps’ squad was announced.

As a result he’s missed the entire tournament and will likely be sidelined for around six months.

The Frenchman is hoping to appear in the red and white again before Christmas.

Koscielny watched as national side lifted their first World Cup for 20 years following a 4-2 win over Croatia.

Before his injury, Koscielny announced that he would retire from international football after the tournament.

The tournament win will have likely left a bitter-sweet taste in his mouth knowing that he wasn’t able to contribute to his countries’ campaign.

Kosicelny is contracted until 2020 in North London – and is hoping to be fit around October or November.

Gooners, is Koscielny still a force in the Premier League? Let us know in the comments…
