Manchester United’s early season struggles have helped in Arsenal’s start to the season, believes Gunners legend Ian Wright.

Following two season opening defeats to Man City and Chelsea, Arsenal have won the following nine games on the trot.

Conversely, United have made a stuttering start to the campaign, having picked up just 13 points so far. Mourinho’s men did manage to breathe some much-needed life into their season with a comeback win over Newcastle on Saturday.

But the Portuguese boss remains under pressure.

Wright wrote in his column in The Sun: ” Arsenal fans have not had too much to thank Jose Mourinho for over the years. But for once, they have every reason to be giving the thumbs up to the Manchester United boss.

“All the spotlight for the past month has been on Mourinho. Before that it was very much on how Guardiola and Klopp were going to battle it out for the Premier League title.

“And that meant Emery could largely get on with it at the Emirates without the glare of the spotlight on his every move.”

Arsenal return to action against Leicester after the international break.
