Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes playing Man City on the opening day of the season is a great time to face them.

The Gunners entertain Pep Guardiola’s champions at the Emirates on Sunday.

City, who became the first side to reach 100 points in the Premier League last year have allowed no less than 11 players to leave, while strengthening with the addition of 2015/16’s Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez,

Arsenal meanwhile have added five players and have a new boss for the first time in 22 years.

And Gunners hero Wright seems to think that the Gunners could well be capable of causing an upset when they host the Citizens at The Emirates this weekend.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, Wright said: “They start against a City team who know exactly what they are doing, but this might be a good time to play them because some of their players are late back from the World Cup.

“Arsenal are going to play this pressing game and could they catch City off guard?

“If they do, have they got enough defensively to stop City even if City are rocked by a couple of punches? That might just be my wishful thinking.”
