Arsenal’s former strike talisman Robin van Persie has apologised to Arsenal fans for his acrimonious departure from the club in 2012.

Van Persie spent eight years at Arsenal, before making a shocking move to Manchester United.

For many of those eight years the Dutchman spent his time on the sidelines due to injury, but his return in 2010 saw never look back – it led to him achieving the Premier League’s Golden Boot in 2011/12.

A hero at the club, Van Persie then turned his back on Arsenal and simultaneously severed all ties and broke Arsenal fan’s hearts by switching allegiances to Manchester United seven years ago.

“I was the captain, top scorer and we came third that year. But just sometimes you feel you need a challenge, a new adventure.
