Ahead of tonight’s match versus Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League, I’ve taken a look at our forum, Arsenal Talk, to see what supporters are saying ahead of the game. You can have your say on tonight’s match on the forum here. The match is live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate at 20:00 and the referee is Paul Tierney.

SA Gunner: “We’ll win this game convincingly, perhaps a little nervous at the beginning but we’ll figure it out.

The problem with our last game at Porto, is that we wanted to make it a slog, instead of taking the tie by the scruff of the neck and burying it. I don’t think we’ll make such a mistake again in the Champions League.

We don’t do such nonsense in the league anymore because we can’t afford to. This will be another high-tempo game where we look to punish Newcastle from the first minute. And if we play our game like we have done recently, we’ll win.

I want to say 3, but I’ll keep it conservative. Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle.

It was the “Fulham performance”.

I think knowing how Porto play we had an idea that it was going to be a tough game. I suggested it would be the hardest game for us in the CL, outside of the final.

Newcastle will look to do exactly that, sit in, play physical and get goals on the counter.

Brentford as well, in fact, they are the specialists at this right now.

We have the tools to deal with this though, so other than nerves to get the win, we should be ok.”

Gooner Zig: “I’ve got my niece’s 3rd birthday during this, so will only be able to watch the first half at best. Think the players will be super up for it, I recall when we got beat by Lens away, we followed it up by smacking Bournemouth 4-0 at their ground.

As long as we don’t make any silly mistakes I think we’ll win 2-0.”

sakalacaxhaka: “Going to be the perfect preparation for Porto in a few weeks and after Wednesday’s game we’ve had perfect training for it

We do need to freshen it up a bit, I’d be tempted to give Nelson a run-out, and have Martinelli as an impact sub, similar to Trossard with ESR, having those two to come on with tired Newcastle legs could be perfect

There’ll be a lot of frustration from Wednesday from the players, so I expect a reaction, and I think we really need an early goal to throw their tactics out the window

We know Arteta will be reminding the players of the last game, the atmosphere will be rocking and they’ll be focused on putting things right. Newcastle aren’t great travellers so I expect a 2/3-0 win.”
