Reiss Nelson has been forced to pull out of the England U21 squad with a knee injury.

The Arsenal youngster was not in the squad for Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Nelson had been selected by Three Lions boss Aidy Boothroyd for the upcoming internationals against Slovenia and Austria, but withdrew from the squad on Monday alongside Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White and Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood; who have also returned to their respective clubs with back injuries.

According to reports, Nelson’s injury is just a precaution and the good news for Gunners fans is that it does not appear to be a serious problem.

The 19 year-old has not enjoyed the best of starts to the season. He’s found the net once in his six appearances so far with Unai Emery now preferring Bukayo Saka on the flank.

Nelson will be hoping to be available for selection when Arsenal travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United next.
