Borussia Monchengladbach midfeilder, Andreas Christensen has tipped his former teammate, Granit Xhaka, to have a successful career at Arsenal.

The 20-year-old, who is on a two-year loan at the German side from London rivals, Chelsea, played alongside the Swiss midfielder in the Bundesliga.

Speaking to Goal, the Denmark international said: “I think he will be great for Arsenal,

“He has got a big personality, he is great in the dressing room and he is a really confident guy. He plays with a lot of emotion, I think if he can adapt to the English culture, he will be great.”

He added “As a person he can be determined, focused and funny, but he is fun and a nice lad so he is kind of the same as he is on the pitch. He has got a lot of emotions [when he plays] and he just wants to win.

“He is like that outside the pitch as well, he is a good person to have around, he will be good in the Arsenal dressing room. I will text him before the game comes around… It is not that far away!”

The midfield pairing contributed significantly last season as their side finished fourth in the league, qualifying for the Champions League, making 59 league appearances between them.

Xhaka has made a fantastic case to start when the Gunners host Chelsea at The Emirates on Saturday, having scored two stunning efforts in his last two outings, against Hull and Nottingham Forest respectively.
