When Alexis Sanchez returns to Arsenal this summer after the Copa America with Chile, it will be the second time in as many summers he will have to cope with recovering from a heavy schedule. He of course joined the club last season off the back of a World Cup campaign and although it didn’t seem to effect him too much, there are fears another busy summer may be difficult to cope with.

Is he in danger of burning out? You would have to say yes. In truth, if anyone is capable of coping with it, it is Sanchez as he has displayed his physical prowess this season. Phenomenal fitness this lad has, but that it is not to say he is immune from fatigue.

Wenger will most likely look to give him a lengthy lay off to recover, as caution is the order of the day. Assuming Chile make it all the way to the finals, Copa America is set to end on July 4th. Wenger would most likely rest Sanchez for the entirety of  Arsenal’s pre-season which beings on the 15th against a Singapore XI.

My estimation is Wenger wouldn’t look to bring back Alexis until the Community Shield clash with Chelsea on August 2nd. Considering that Alexis will most likely be chomping at the bit to return, I think it is safe to say he will be just fine.

Wenger will proceed with caution, and the player will take the necessary steps to ensure he is ready.

I definitely think he’s gonna get burned down if they proceed up to the final. That said, he will require lengthy lay off so as to get him fully fit when we need him mostly.

Simple answer is yes he will be tired but I doubt he will care. The guy gives his absolute all every game.
