Jack Wilshere should only sign a new deal with Arsenal if Arsene Wenger is replaced by Antonio Conte at the end of the season.
That’s the view of former Arsenal man Steward Robson.
Wilshere is yet to act on his claims that he is committed to Arsenal. The midfielder could leave the Emirates at the end of the season should he fail to put pen to paper.
With Arsenal struggling for form, Wenger’s position has come under scrutiny. Antonio Conte is just one of the few shortlisted as the next Arsenal manager.
The Italian has failed to replicate last year’s saunter to a Premier League title and has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge.
Robson is keen for the Chelsea boss to replace Wenger and thinks his arrival would help Wilshere progress.
“If a new manager came in, and I’ve been championing Antonio Conte because he’s obviously going to leave Chelsea and I think he would be the ideal fit for Arsenal and give the team discipline.
“If that were to happen, I’d want Jack Wilshere to stay.
