Arsenal manager Unai Emery stood in the way of Joachim Low’s attempt to see Mesut Ozil, reports say.

The Germany boss arrived at the London Colney training facility recently, but he tried in vain to contact the 29-year-old with regard to his decision to retire from international football.

Ozil quit the German national team after their disappointing attempt to defend the World Cup this summer.

The former Real Madrid playmaker cited facing “racism and disrespect” due to his Turkish roots as the reason for hanging up his boots.

But Low responded at the end of August by claiming that Ozil’s claims of racism within the national team were “exaggerated”.

Now, Bild  are reporting that Low along with national team manager Oliver Bierhoff turned up to London to reconcile with his former No. 10.

But upon contacting Arsenal to request access to their training ground, the pair were told in no uncertain terms that they would not be welcome.

The report says that Emery himself gave the order to refuse Low and Bierhoff entry to London Colney.

It’s likely that the two caught up with Ozil at another location.
