Germany manager Jochim Low says Mesut Ozil is not to blame for the nation’s premature World Cup exit.

The Germans had never gone out in the group stage of the tournament. They needed to win their final group match in order to reach the last 16, but were left humbled when South Korea scored two added time goals to win 2-0.

Arsenal star Ozil, has been criticised for his performances, but Low says he’s not be blamed.

“Today, because of a number of bans and injuries, we had to make changes,” the Germany manager explained (via the Star).

“In 2014 and 2017 that was also the case, it happens.

Ozil will likely take some time to relax, before starting preparations ahead of the new season.

The personnel at the Emirates will look quite different when the German returns.

New boss Unai Emery has worked to bolster the defence. Stehpan Lichsteiner and Bernd Leno have arrived, while a few other top targets could be welcomed in the coming days.
