Joe Mourinho is reportedly interested in returning to the Premier League and would be keen on replacing Unai Emery as Arsenal manager.

The three time Premier League winner was sacked by Manchester United last year and has not returned to management.

Unai Emery’s future remains uncertain with following another defeat for Arsenal in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool.

It follows Arsenal surrendering a 2-0 lead with Crystal Palace amidst captain Granit Xhaka’s stunning confrontation with home fans.

Unai Emery’s position is under threat

Metro Sport say Emery still has the backing of Arsenal’s decision makers for now, though Spanish television show El Chiringuito report they would be open to appointing Mourinho if the situation deteriorates further.

Mourinho, 56, who has lifted the Champions League is warming to the idea of managing Arsenal– particularly as it means he can stay in London – while he recently visited the Emirates to watch their Europa League clash with Vitoria.
