Hector Bellerin could have an alternative exit route to consider from Arsenal after being targeted by Roma boss Jose Mourinho, according to reports…

THE LOWDOWN: SPARKLING SEASON

The 27-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed a sparkling season on loan at Real Betis, helping the club win the Copa del Rey in April, their first piece of silverware since 2005, and also helping them to an impressive 5th place finish in the La Liga table.

The Seville-based club are reportedly ready to negotiate for the defender’s services on a permanent basis at the end of the season in which the defender recently stated he is ready to move back to Spain.

The Spain international, who has clocked up 239 appearances for Arsenal over the years, has a year remaining his Emirates contract. Goal reporter Charles Watts says the Gunners are ready to cash in for £15million.

And now, the UEFA Europa Conference League champions are ready to offer him an alternative route out of the Emirates stadium.

THE LATEST: FURTHER COMPETITION

According to Calciomercato.it, Roma have identified Bellerin as a possible right-back target.

Mourinho is reportedly looking for further competition for their current right-back, Rick Karsdorp.

The report also goes on to state that Juventus are also keeping tabs on Bellerin. Inter Milan are also interested in Bellerin, as the race hots up to land the out-of-favour Arsenal man.

THE VERDICT: CONSIDER ROMA

After the season he has had back in Spain, it is understandable why Bellerin would want to continue with Betis.

It is safe to say that the £18m-rated speedster has enjoyed a great spell in Seville and discovered a new lease of life after his difficult period in north London.

The Badalona-born star has this campaign started 22 of Betis’ 38 La Liga games and 32 appearances in all competitions, registering five assists.

But Roma could be stronger financially and are building an exciting project under Mourinho, one of which the defender could form a vital part.

However, the reason the 27-year-old left the Emirates in the first place was to get first-team football, and he has been rewarded with it in abundance under former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

At Roma, he isn’t guaranteed a first-team spot, so moving back to Betis and to his native Spain seems the more suitable option for him.
